Village of Great Neck Plaza business owners pay something called the Business Improvement District (BID) tax. This is a tax that’s used for programs that stimulate business development. The Great Neck BID tax funds programs that you see in the Village, from the annual Vintage Auto Show to various programs to help small businesses throughout Great Neck. And of course, some of the most important businesses to help are our local restaurants.
There are a few things going on with the BID that you might be interested in:
1) Halloween Parade. On October 31, parents and kids are encouraged to participate in the Costume Parade. On the BID Web site, several Great Neck eateries are offering special coupons for parents and kids who participate. You can find the coupons here. Some of the participating restaurants include Entre, Giraffe Room, Great Neck Diner, Miraku, and Poultry Mart.
2) They also have coupons on their Web site year-round. Right now, there are coupons for Great Neck Diner, Mario’s Pizzeria, and Plaza Cafe and Yogurt Bar.
3) They’ve just announced that Great Neck Restaurant Week for Fall 2012 will be here from November 11 to November 18, 2012. Still no word on participating restaurants, but it’s a good chance to sample some of the great restaurants in our fair city. I’ll post more information on this as it comes.
The government can only do so much to stimulate business development, but the rest is up to you! Next time you’re taking friends out to dinner or planning a special event, consider some of the great restaurants in our own West Egg!
